In the past few months, residents across Baltimore have come together like never before to stand up to BGE.

They organized. They got arrested. They sued. And they won.

Thanks to a lawsuit filed by former Maryland deputy attorney general Thiru Vignarajah, BGE is now forbidden from threatening gas shutoffs to coerce customers into accepting an external gas pressure regulator and customers now make the ultimate choice about whether the regulator is installed inside or outside the home.
But BGE already installed thousands of outdoor regulators. If you live anywhere in BGE’s service region and an outdoor regulator was installed on your home that you did not want, you can join the lawsuit to make BGE pay for the damage they have caused to your home and community. In order to participate in the lawsuit, complete this registration form AND sign the retainer letter here.
Here’s some additional background:
For months, residents have objected to BGE’s decision to prioritize profits over major environmental and safety concerns as the utility giant tries to double down on gas infrastructure even as cities and states nationwide, including Maryland, move away from fossil fuels.
Under the false pretext of safety and without a single study to support them, BGE unlawfully installed thousands of gas pressure regulators outside of customers' homes over their objection. Even though outdoor installations are more dangerous, BGE did this to reduce costs and shift liability to homeowners.
What BGE has done is unlawful and wrong. And they should pay for the damage they have wrought to thousands of homes across the region.
